During a Q&A session at a recent Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, Cook told the audience that Apple has paid out €8 billion to various app developers since it launched its app store five years ago.
Most importantly, for app developers, this is a €1 billion increase on the figure Apple quoted in January 2013, which means a huge increase in app downloads by consumers.
It now seems very evident that iOS users, those with iPhones, iPads and iPods, are more than willing to pay for quality apps, especially iPad apps. Out of the 775,000 or so apps available on the App Store, 300,000 were designed for the iPad.
“The iPhone is available only to around 50% of subscribers in the world,” he said when asked if Apple is leveling out. “I see a wide open field. I don’t think about that word called limit.”
